Frequently Asked Questions
The things people ask us most, answered plainly. If your question is not here, ask us — we would rather answer it than have you guess.
Is BamBite Thai food?
- No. BamBite cooks Burmese, Shan and Yunnan food — we are in Bangkok, but the kitchen is not a Thai one. Think fermented tea leaf salad, Shan noodles, Yunnan-style hot pot and mala xiang guo, cooked with modern technique. This is the thing customers most often expect to be different from what it is, so we say it first.
Where are you, and which branch is nearest me?
- Two branches in Bangkok. Pathum Wan is at 173-175 Soi Rong Mueang 4, beside Chulalongkorn University — the one to choose from Chula, Siam, Sam Yan, Rama VI or Hua Lamphong. Udom Suk is at 183 Soi Udom Suk 5, Bang Na Nuea — the one for Bang Na, Punnawithi, Bearing and eastern Sukhumvit.
What are your opening hours?
- Both branches open at 8:00 AM and the kitchen runs until midnight, every day of the week. The café and bar keep the same hours as the kitchen, so it is breakfast through late dinner in one place.
Do you deliver, and how much is it?
- Yes — a flat ฿39 within 5 km of a branch, delivered by our own rider rather than a platform. That means the rider works for us and the kitchen controls the timing, and there is no aggregator mark-up on the food. Order from the menu page.
Do you have vegetarian and vegan dishes?
- Yes. Eleven dishes are vegan as served and eight more are vegetarian; six others can be made vegan if you ask. The menu page marks each one, and the marking matters — a dish labelled "vegan on request" is not vegan as it comes, so please do ask rather than assume.
Can you tell me about allergens?
- Ask us, and we will check with the kitchen for the dish you want. We do not publish an allergen table, and we would rather say that than publish one we cannot stand behind for every dish on every day. Tell us when you order or when you book, and we will tell you what is in it.
Is the food halal?
- We do not hold or claim a halal certification, so we will not tell you it is. If you need to know what is in a particular dish, ask us and we will check with the kitchen — but the certification question has an honest answer and it is no.
How do I order, and how can I pay?
- Order from the menu page for pickup, takeaway or delivery, or just walk in. You can pay by PromptPay QR, by PayPal, or in cash — at the counter, or to the rider when the food arrives.
Do I need to book a table?
- Walk-ins are welcome whenever there is space, but a booking is the safe way for dinner and at weekends. Some dishes are marked "pre-order" or "sharing" on the menu and need notice, so for a large group it is better to book or contact us than to build a big order in the online cart.
Is there a student discount or a loyalty scheme?
- Both. Students get a discount — the student page has the current terms. Membership earns points on every order, and the membership page is the place to check the current rate: it is set by us and can change, so we would rather send you to the page that knows than print a number here that goes stale.
It is my first time — what should I order?
- Laphet thoke, the fermented tea leaf salad, is the dish Burmese food is known for and the one to try first. Shan noodles are the everyday staple. If you are sharing, mala xiang guo or a Yunnan-style hot pot is the table dish. Finish with Burmese milk tea — it is a different thing from Thai tea and worth ordering on its own.
